Who this is for
This checklist is for owners, marketers, and small agencies who are improving pages for Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and classic search. It helps you verify whether a page update is connected to useful business outcomes instead of treating rankings or AI mentions as the only goal.
Copy/paste conversion worksheet
- Page or asset: URL, owner, product/service, and the buyer question this page should answer.
- Primary conversion: call, form submit, booking, Gumroad click, email inquiry, quote request, or resource subscription.
- Secondary conversion: checklist download, product-page click, phone-number tap, directions click, chat start, or newsletter opt-in.
- Tracking source of truth: GA4 event, Search Console query/page report, Gumroad analytics, call-tracking provider, CRM field, or manual lead log.
- Baseline window: record the prior 28 days before editing. If you do not have clean data, write “unknown baseline” instead of estimating.
- UTM links added: list every internal, free-resource, and product link that changed. Include source, medium, campaign, and content labels.
- Lead-quality note: did the lead match the right service area, budget, problem, and urgency?
- AI-search evidence: verified query, AI-answer mention, referral source, or customer wording. Do not claim AI sourced a lead unless the source is visible.
- Review date: schedule a 14-day and 45-day check. Avoid editing the same page repeatedly before the first readout.
- Decision: keep, improve CTA, improve proof, improve internal links, change offer, or pause because there is not enough data.
UTM naming starter
utm_source=github_pages
utm_medium=free
utm_campaign=seo_after_ai_launch
utm_content=conversion_tracking_[page_or_cta_name]
Keep names lowercase and stable. If the same page links to both a free checklist and a paid product, give each CTA a distinct utm_content value so you can see what earns trust before purchase intent.
AI drafting prompt
You are helping audit conversion tracking for one small-business web page.
Use only the facts below. Do not invent traffic, rankings, AI mentions, conversion rates, revenue, calls, or leads.

Recent page changes:
Return:
1. Missing tracking fields
2. Suggested UTM naming cleanup
3. Analytics questions to answer before claiming improvement
4. Human-review stop rules
5. Next 14-day check plan
Human-review stop rules
- Do not invent conversion lift from rankings, impressions, AI mentions, or anecdotes.
- Do not combine multiple changed pages into one “winner” unless the tracking source separates them.
- Do not change prices, legal claims, service guarantees, or testimonials based on AI suggestions without owner/legal review.
- Do not publish customer examples unless permission and privacy limits are recorded.
- Do not call a page “AI-search optimized” if the phone, form, booking, or product click path is broken.
